Melanie Baker headlined The Black Prince as part of a short run of gigs by the Newcastle singer-songwriter.

Melanie was previewing tracks from her forthcoming debut album ‘Somebody Help Me, I’m Being Spontaneous!’.

To be honest, her popping up on the venue’s gig listings was the first time I’d heard of her, but absolutely loved her take on indie rock. Lots of ‘slacker indie / Weezer / college rock’ vibes. Also, amusing stories about slug infestations too. What more do you want!
