New Order, Heaton Park, Manchester

Not a gig I was officially photographing, but still a photo which is worth shouting about!

I was pretty close to the front for New Order’s headline gig at Heaton Park in Manchester and, as usual, trying to get a few photos on my phone in absence of my photo kit.

During their encore of Joy Division tracks, I’d seen the image of Ian rotating on the huge screen behind the band and managed to capture it.

After subsquently posting it on Instagram, New Order picked it as a winning image from the night and I received a signed poster.

Support was by Hot Chip and Working Men’s Club.

You can read more about why the photo was picked on New Order’s website.

Great to see WMC doing so well. Photographed them a couple of times before, once as headline act, one as tour support for Bodega. You can see those photos here.
