Kunt and the Gang - Craufurd Arms, Milton Keynes
25 October 2025

After a couple of tours with his punk band The Kuntz, Basildon's greatest synth pop artist Kunt has been back on the road as a solo act. Kunt headed back to The Caufurd Arms on his 25th Anniversary tour, following a host of singles in recent years which have bothered the upper echelons of the UK Singles Chart and work on Shannon Matthews, The Musical. Kunt was back to doing what he does best - rude, crude and very funny songs to an electronic backing track. It was great to hear so many of Kunt's classic tracks in...

Forever Now - The National Bowl, Milton Keynes
22 June 2025

German electronic icons Kraftwerk headlined the inaugural Forever Now Festival at The National Bowl in Milton Keynes. The sister festival of Cruel World in America saw bands from post-punk and adjacent genres come together for what was an an amazing day of live music. Acts played across two stages and despite a series of setbacks on the smaller second stage, thousands enjoyed 17 acts as well as 'in discussion' stage the Echo Chamber which was hosted by John Robb. Because of set clashes, it was impossible to...

4 August 2024

The Multitude Festival returned to the Craufurd Arms for its annual new music all-dayer. For the first time Multitude was taking place across two days, with bands playing across three stages. I could only make the second one which was headlined by Witch Fever, Heavy Lungs and Katie Malco. The Libertines - MK11, Milton Keynes
25 January 2024

The Libertines headed to MK11 in Milton Keynes as part of a short UK tour of intimate venues ahead of the release of their new album. Tickets absolutely flew out when this gig was announced and it was probably the best I've ever heard the band sound. There's a full review of the night running on the MK Citizen website here. Support was by Lily On The Green, Saint Leonard and Pregoblin. You can pre-order the new Libertines album at https://www.thelibertines.com There are more photos of gigs at venues across...

Multitude Festival, Craufurd Arms - Milton Keynes
5 August 2023

Last year, organisers of the Multitude Festival put together one of the best all-dayers championing new music. On Saturday, they returned for the second installment of the event. Set across three stages at the Craufurd Arms, (two indoor one outdoor), the line-up featured some of the best up and coming acts playing the alternative circut. I tried to get around as much as I could on day and below are photos in roughly descending time order, featuring Opus Kink, Hot Wax, Big Special, DSM IV, Cowboyy, Ciel, Bex, Naked...

From The Archives: Enter Shikari - The Pitz, Milton Keynes
29 June 2023

This week marks 15-years since Enter Shikari played The Pitz in Milton Keynes, a gig which I think was part of a tour to promote their debut album. The band released their latest record A Kiss For The Whole World in April and they recently also made the headlines for their decision to donate £1 from every ticket sale for their forthcoming arena tour to the Muisc Venue Trust's Pipeline Investment Fund, which helps to support independent venues. I've always had huge respect for Enter Shikari for being a band which...

Muse - The National Bowl, Milton Keynes
25 June 2023

Tens of thousands of music fans returned to The National Bowl in Milton Keynes for the first time in about six years on Sunday to see Muse. The band has been touring in support of their latest album The Will Of The People. Support was by Royal Blood and The Warning. The National Bowl has hosted some iconic gigs over the years (David Bowie, Michael Jackson, Bruce Springsteen, Black Sabbath, Metallica, Pearl Jam, Foo Fighters, Green Day, The Prodigy) and it was great to see it full again. Hopefully, with MK Dons...

IVW23 - Benefits - Craufurd Arms, Milton Keynes
2 February 2023

Gig two of Independent Venue Week and one of the very best. I went into this one probably having read more about Benefits than I'd heard. Fantastic performance, intensely heavy music and great lyrics. Definitely a band to catch on their April tour. Joining Benefits were Big Special and Flash Peasants who both put in great support slots. Hopefully Big Special's music will be appearing online very soon! More photos of gigs at Craufurd Arms are available on this site here. For more information about Benefits,...

From The Archives: Har Mar Superstar / Lizzo - Craufurd Arms, Milton Keynes
8 October 2022

Following Lizzo's meteoric rise to fame and the recent announcement of her return to the UK for a series of gigs at arenas next year, I thought it'd dig out the photos of when she joined Har Mar Superstar on tour at venues a fraction of the size. Har Mar was touring in support of his 2013 album Bye Bye 17 and brought Lizzo along as tour support. She also joined him in his band. This would have been before Lizzo's debut album Lizzobangers. Joining Lizzo for her set was Sophia Eris who's also pictured below. The pair...

Paloma Faith - Campbell Park, Milton Keynes
17 July 2022

Paloma Faith brought Campbell Park’s live concert series to a close on Sunday night with a set of pop perfection. Following headline performances on previous nights by ABBA Symphonic and Rag ‘n’ Bone Man, the London singer songwriter treated fans to some of her best-known hits from across her five albums. Organisers were forced to make a last minute change to the line-up after James Morrison pulled out due to illness. Joe Bygraves stepped in to replace Morrison and followed Katie Kittermaster who opened...

Rag 'n' Bone Man - Campbell Park, Milton Keynes
16 July 2022

Thousands of music fans packed into Campbell Park on Saturday to see multi-platinum selling singer songwriter Rag ‘n’ Bone Man. Joining Rag ‘n’ Bone Man - aka Rory Graham – were Hull’s Charlotte Jane and folk / Americana singer songwriter Jade Bird. More photos and a review of the gig is online at the MK Citizen. More photos from gigs at...

My Chemical Romance - Stadium MK, Milton Keynes
19 May 2022

After two smaller 'warm up' gigs in Cornwall, My Chemical Romance headed to Stadium MK in Milton Keynes for three huge gigs. The band's UK dates were at the very start of their world tour since reforming. The opening night in Milton Keynes was incredible and was the only one of the three shows where frontman Gerrard Way dressed up for the occasion, wearing a 'blood' splattered white suit and mask. Joining the My Chem were Placebo, Witch Fever and Lost Alone. Photo contracts limit what I can share on this site of MCR,...

Bob Vylan, Grove - Craufurd Arms, Milton Keynes
16 May 2022

It was a great return by Bob Vylan to the Craufurd Arms for a sold-out headline show. The pair are currently playing dates across the UK in support of their new album, The Price Of Life. Great atmosphere, great muisc and great lyrics about important social issues. Joining Bob Vylan were Bristol duo Grove. Photos from more gigs at the Craufurd Arms are available on this site here. For more information about Bob Vylan, visit...

Shame, Craufurd Arms, Milton Keynes
10 June 2021

Some photos from the first of two socially distanced gigs in the same day by Shame at the Craufurd Arms in Milton Keynes. The band is currently on a UK tour following the release of their second album, Drunk Tank Pink. While it was a socially distanced show, Shame put in a cracking performance, with a set mostly comprising of tracks from their new album, but also from their debut Songs Of Praise. You can see more photos from gigs at the Craufurd Arms here. A full review of the show is available on the MK Citizen...

Sarpa Salpa, Craufurd Arms, Milton Keynes
4 October 2020

Sarpa Salpa were the first band to headline the Craufurd Arms on Saturday night, more than six months since the music industry was plunged into crisis following Government restrictions on live performances due to the coronavirus. In normal times at the Milton Keynes venue, you’d regularly find 280 people packed inside to watch local, national and international acts playing. On Saturday, there were 64 people, sat at benches. Joining Sarpa Salpa was Low Girl.I wrote a full piece about the gig for the Northampton...

Thumper, Craufurd Arms, Milton Keynes
2 March 2020

After an amazing headline set in Northampton at The Black Prince last year, Thumper headed to Milton Keynes to headline the Craufurd Arms. Not the best attended show I've ever been to - but also, far from the worse! Fair play to Thumper for putting on a great gig regardless. Joining them were Northampton's Deaf Trap and Tragic who were both great. You can check out a few photos from the band's Black Prince gig...

Basement, Craufurd Arms, Milton Keynes
24 August 2019

Proper good one this. Basement playing to an absolutely packed Craufurd Arms in Milton Keynes. The band was in town to headline the venue either side of gigs at the Leeds and Reading Festivals. Support was by Honey Lung. For more information about Basement, visit https://www.basementuk.com/...

Rammstein, Stadium MK, Milton Keynes
6 July 2019

German metal giants Rammstein's headline gig at Stadium MK was simply stunning. From the stage set up, to the theatrics and pyrotechnics to the sheer number of people packed into the venue. It was an absolute sight to be hold from start to finish. The photo contract for this one was incredibly restrictive, so I can really only post a photo of the front of the MK Citizen and an external link to content used across jpimedia titles. Pictured is Rammstein frontman Till Lindemann. There's a full gallery of...

slowthai - Birmingham / Milton Keynes / Northampton
12 June 2019

In recent months, slowthai has well and truly been putting Northampton on the map. The rapper released his debut LP Nothing Great About Britain in May to critical acclaim. Rather than retrospectively publishing some galleries of recent slowthai content, this one post features images from his Brexit Bandit tour, his 99p tour and his album launch party at The Garibaldi Hotel. The latter was notable for featuring Skepta, who walked in to the Northampton pub for the last song of slowthai's set to perform Inglorious. You can...

Rod Stewart, Stadium MK, Milton Keynes
4 June 2019

Following Take That’s triumphant gig at Stadium MK recently, it was Rod Stewart’s turn to wow audiences at the venue. Photos were for Total MK, who are running a full galley and review as well which you can read here. Again, shooting from front of house, but it looked a great show, with Rod sporting a cracking pair of bright yellow trainers. Support was by Johnny Mac and the...

Take That, Stadium MK, Milton Keynes
23 May 2019

Take That brought their 30th Anniversary Tour to Stadium MK in Milton Keynes tonight. Despite being down to three members now, it looked a pretty spectacular show with the band emerging from a giant black sphere in the middle of the stage. Along for the ride was Rick Astley. There’s a few photos below which were done for the MK...

Indian Queens, Craufurd Arms, Milton Keynes
21 April 2019

Indian Queens back at the Craufurd Amrs, joined by the Enjoyable Listens. This is another retrospective upload and it's great to see that in the months since this gig, the band has finally got their debut LP ready for release. For more information, visit https://www.facebook.com/indianqueens/...

Fontaines D.C. Craufurd Arms, Milton Keynes
13 January 2019

This one was excellent. It's a retrospective upload and post as for some unknown reason, I must have totally forgotten to sort a galley of Fontaines D.C. at the time. Odd, as it was one of the gigs of the year. I can't remember if their debut album had been released or not - but it was there or there abouts. Support was by Corby's King Purple. I wrote a review for it, which you can read across jpimedia websites, including the Northampton Chron. You can see photos of more gigs from the Craufurd Arms...

We Are Scientists, Craufurd Arms, Milton Keynes
30 March 2018

We Are Scientists, Craufurd Arms, Milton Keynes, 30.03.18 A great intimate show by NYC's We Are Scientists at the Craufurd Arms in Milton Keynes. This is another 'retrospective upload', so I can't remember if it was to support anything particular!  Support was by the excellent Lottery...

Therapy?, The Craufurd Arms, Milton Keynes
8 March 2018

A few from Therapy? who played a one off gig at the Craufurd Arms before heading out on tour with The Stranglers. Bit annoyed to see Andy Cairns lurking in the shadows so much, but still a great night. After a very crappy few months, this was something I'd been looking forward to for a long...

Bat Sabbath, Craufurd Arms, Milton Keynes
10 June 2017

Cancer Bats kicked off their Bat Sabbath tour at the Craufurd Arms in Milton Keynes. Here's a few photos from the gig, as well as a review I wrote for www.northamptonchron.co.uk At some point, you’re going to have to accept you’re (probably) never going to see Black Sabbath again. Bat Sabbath are on tour in the UK throughout June. Yes, hiatuses and splits all too often just result in lucrative reformations years down the line, but in the case of the aforementioned Brummie heavy metal icons, the chance of seeing...

My Vitriol, Craufurd Arms, Milton Keynes
8 April 2017

So, I desperately hoped this would be a good night. Unfortunately, it wasn't. When on form, My Vitriol are amazing, but this was far from it. I hate writing negative reviews, but it had to be done. My review which appeared on the Northampton Chron follows. On paper (quite literally), this should have been a great opening night to My Vitriol’s ‘Secret Sessions’ tour. Armed with a set littered with a mix of new and old material, the ‘nu-gaze’ alternative trio (more on that later), are back with their longest run...

Legends of GLC, Craufurd Arms, Milton Keynes, #IVW17

Kunt and the Gang, Craufurd Arms, Milton Keynes
1 October 2016

Kunt is out on his farewell tour. His headline show at the Craufurd Arms in MK was one of the funniest, wrongest things you'll ever see. I wrote a review of it for a couple of newspapers. You can read it here. Even Jeremy Vine...

Big Special - O2 Institute, Birmingham
21 February 2026

Big Special returned to Birmingham for the closest thing to a hometown gig for the duo as part of their UK tour supporting their latest album National Average. I've been lucky enough to see Big Special a number of times over recent years after stumbling across them at the Craufurd Arms in Milton Keynes supporting Benefits as part of Independent Venue Week in 2023. Seeing them go from strength to strength and picking up an ever growing fanbase along the way has been great. Joining the band were fellow West...

The Horrors - The Crossing, Birmingham
21 November 2025

The Horrors' latest album, Night Life, is probably going to be my album of the year. Having seen them at the end of 2024 over at Esquires in Bedford ahead of the record's release, it was great to see them again and hear a bit more new material. There's been a run of gigs with no front facing light recently. However, you'd expect nothing less from the band. This is the first Horrors album and run of live dates where the line-up has differed significantly from the bulk of their earlier work. However, this seems...

Idles - O2 Academy, Birmingham
3 December 2024

Idles were back in Birmingham for two sold out dates as part of their UK to to support their fifth album Tangk. It was somehow the eighth time seeing the Bristol natives having previously seen them play at Esquires (Bedford), Hare & Hounds (Birmingham), Craufurd Arms (Milton Keynes), Sound City (Liverpool), Institute (Birmingham), EartH (London) and Electric (London). It was however, my first time shooting them since their 2018 gig in Milton Keynes. You can see photos from both the Bedford and Milton Keynes gigs...

Benefits - The 100 Club, London
27 April 2023

Benefits' incredible debut album Nails is finally out and having seen them earlier this year, I couldn't resist popping down to London to see them headline The 100 Club. I wasn't photographing this one, but could resist taking and adding a couple of photos! Great support by Scrounge and Meryl Streek too. More photos of Benefits headlining the Craufurd Arms in Milton Keynes are available on this site here. For more information about Benefits, visit...

Torus / Potwash / Clearcut - The Garibaldi, Northampton
20 January 2023

You can always rely on The Garibaldi to be hosting some of the best up-and-coming acts around and Torus was no deviation from this. The venue was absolutely rammed for not only the Milton Keynes rock trio, but also for Northampton's Potwash and Clearcut. More photos from The Garibaldi are available on this site here. For more information about Torus visit...

Fontaines DC, Roadmender, Northampton
21 July 2021

Fontaines D.C. provided a stunning return for live music at the Roadmender with a headline gig as part of the Revive Live series. The band was due to go on and play at the Latitude Festival, however, sadly someone of them tested positive for covid the following day. JPI reviewer Alison Bagley was on hand to review, which you can read here. It was the second time Fontaines D.C. had played in the region, having played at the Craufurd Arms in Milton Keynes in...

slowthai, Roadmender, Northampton
2 January 2020

slowthai capped off an amazing year at the Roadmender last week with an early New Year's Eve Party. There's a review and a couple of photos running over at www.northamptonchron.co.uk if you want to read more about my thoughts on the show. Ty wasn't on until midnight and was joined by a host of special guests including ASH, Max Frith, Mike Skinner, Kelvin Krash & Kasien and P-rallel. Spent a lot of time photographing the Northampton native this year, previously covering gigs at the O2 in Birmingham, Craufurd...

Mercury Prize Winners - Wolf Alice
21 September 2018

Here's the 'support your local venues' post. Last night, Wolf Alice walked away winners of the Hyundai Mercury Prize. Promoters The Pad Presents brought the band to Esquires in Bedford and the Craufurd Arms in Milton Keynes in May 2014. Here's a few photos from the latter. With two albums under their belt, Wolf Alice have since established themselves as regulars on festival stages across the UK, toured the world and headlined some of the UK's best known venues playing to thousands of fans each night. However,...
