Gary Numan - Roadmender, Northampton

4 August 2026

Gary Numan was back in Northampton to play two gigs at the Roadmender as part of his latest UK tour. The acclaimed singer-songwriter returned to the town having played both Royal & Derngate and the Lady’s Lane venue in recent years. Unsurprisingly, it was another amazing show by Numan, who – while not touring any new material – played a career spanning set full of some of his biggest hits as well as tracks from recent albums. Numan always has fantastic set and lighting design and this gig didn’t...

Twinfest 2026 - Roadmender, Northampton

30 July 2026

Twinfest has been a mainstay on the Northampton music calendar for a long time now – bringing acts from twinned towns in Germany and France to play alongside some of the county’s best music talent. This year, organisers invited XOXO le World and Torino from Poitier and Marburg respectively. As usual, Twinfest took over venues across Northampton for four days of live music with the Roadmender, The King Billy, V&B and The Charles Bradlaugh all taking part. Scheduling conspired against me this year and I was...

Lightning Seeds - Roadmender, Northampton

4 October 2025

Liverpudlian indie-pop legends Lightning Seeds have been out on an a 35-th anniversary tour and returned to Northampton to headline the Roadmender. Of course, to many Broudie is the man behind the greatest football anthem ever written – one which has topped the UK singles chart on three different occasions. However, to others, he’s the songwriter responsible for some of the best indie-pop of the early 1990s. Emerging before Britpop and its flagbearers took hold, The Lightning Seeds released their debut...

Public Image Ltd - Roadmender, Northampton

29 July 2025

After about a decade away, Public Image Ltd returned to Northampton to headline the Roadmender. It'd only been about a month since I last photographed John Lydon and the rest of PIL at the Forever Now festival. Joining PIL were Trampolene, fronted by singer songwriter Jack Jones. Once again, limited to what I can share here because of PIL's photo contract. However, more photos and some words are running over on the Northampton Chronicle & Echo website here. More photos of gigs from the Roadmender are...

Electric Six - The Roadmender, Northampton

4 July 2025

Detroit rockers Electric Six returned to Northampton to headline the Roadmender as part of the band's latest jaunt across the UK. More than 700 packed inside the Roadmender to see the band, fronted by Dick Valentine. This was another one where it'd been more than 20 years since I'd last seen the band - who released their 16th album Turquoise in 2023. It was great to see Electric Six still on top form playing some of their biggest hits from throughout their career. Support was by Vanity Fairy and The Enjoyable...

Paul Draper - Roadmender, Northampton

24 April 2024

Mansun's Paul Draper has been touring across the UK playing the band's 1999 album Six in full. Probably the less I say about this gig the better. We chose not to publish our review of it over on the Northampton Chronicle & Echo as it felt unfair to deliberately criticise a gig to the extent it would have been necessary to. For more information about Paul Draper, visit https://pauldraperofficial.com There's more photos from gigs at the Roadmender...

2 April 2022

Supergrass made their live return after seven months without a gig at the Roadmeder on Saturday night. Supergrass played to a sold out Roadmender of 800-ish fans as a warm up ahead of a headline gig at the O2 Academy in Brixton the following Monday. Support was by Matt McManamon. Gary Numan, Roadmender, Northampton

1 October 2019

The most lights I've ever seen at the Roadmender with virtually no space to shoot due to the barrier being so close to the stage and there being a box for a monitor cutting the pit in half. Support by the excellent Kanga. Always good to see Numan's bassist and Northampton native Tim Muddiman back in...

It's been a cracking year for The Lovely Eggs with their latest LP, This Is Eggland featuring praise from fans and critics alike. Marmozets, Black Peaks, Roadmender, Northampton

9 May 2018

Not a lot to say about this one. Black Peaks who opened were excellent. Headliners Marmozets less so. I'd seen Marmozets open for someone like Funeral For A Friend at some stage and they were great. For some reason, they just didn't do it for me this time unfortunately. ...

Yungblud - Utilita Arena, Birmingham
