The Shambala Festival returned to its ‘secret location’ in Northamptonshire for the 25th edition of the acclaimed event.
This was my first time at Shambala – despite having written previews for it for years for newspapers. I’m not really sure why I hadn’t been before – I can only I guess put it down to not really thinking the festival was ‘for me’.
However, it was an amazing three days. I was originally only planning on attending on the Saturday, however headed down on the Friday to see headliner Fat Dog and then also on the Sunday for the fireworks closing ceremony.
The Friday saw thousands of people dress in green for the festival’s opening day theme ahead of Saturday’s ‘Pun Intended’ carnival.
There are dozens of stages across the Shambala with music, workshops and talks. Some of the music highlights were Fat Dog, Asian Dub Foundation and Digable Planets. That’s before mentioning the Shambolympics and The Enchanted Woods.
