It was somewhat of a triumphant return to the stage for Lola Young this week when the singer played a sold-out headline set at Birmingham’s O2 Academy.
Young was back having taken some time away from performing after a difficult 2025 which included a collapse onstage at the All Things Go festival in New York.
However, on the evidence of tonight’s rescheduled gig, Young is back, better than ever and ready to take on the world again. It’s almost certain this is the last time you’re going to see her play venues of this size as it feels arenas are beckoning.
Young was quite open about addressing some of the demons which had led to time away and thanked the Birmingham crowd for sticking by her.
She also won the hearts of those inside when proclaiming the Brummie accent was the sexiest regional accent you’ll hear across the UK.
Support at the O2 Academy was by Annabelle Dinda.
