Bring Me The Horizon, Fever 333, Yonaka, Arena Birmingham,
29 November 2018

Rock behemoths Bring Me The Horizon kicked off their UK tour at Arena Birmingham, joined by Fever 333 and Yonaka. It was an absolutely incredible show by the headliners who teased fans with a couple of tracks from their forthcoming album amo. Support was by Fever 333, which features former letlive. frontman Jason Aalon Butler. Second time seeing these guys this year and they were amazing to photograph, with Jason climbing into the arena crowd. You can read a full review of the show...

Paul Weller, Genting Arena, Birmingham
25 August 2018

Here's a few more photos of Paul Weller who headlined the Genting Arena in Birmingham on Friday night. The gig was rescheduled after the 'best from the east' caused the original date to be cancelled earlier in the year. Supporting Weller were Stone Foundation. Our resident Weller fan Jeremy Casey was on hand to review and you can read his thoughts on Johnson Press titles in the region. Always great to see Weller joined by Northampton lads Andy Crofts on bass, Ben Gordelier on percussion and Tom Van Heel on keys. I think...

Iron Maiden, Genting Arena, Birmingham
15 August 2018

Iron Maiden celebrated front man Bruce Dickinson's 60th birthday in style at the Genting Arena in Birmingham on Wednesday night. A spectacular show to a sold out audience featured tracks from across the iconic metal band's career. As usual, I was out after three, but thankfully Krysthla bassist Carl Davis was on hand to write a full review which you can read here, as well as see more photos from the...

Manic Street Preachers, Arena Birmingham
28 April 2018

Arcade Fire, Genting Arena, Birmingham
16 April 2018

Arcade Fire were back in Birmingham to headline the Genting Arena. Their latest album Everything Now may have received a few mixed reviews but live, they are still fantastic. Their Genting gig saw them playing in a 'boxing ring' style stage in the middle of the area with ropes surrounding the band for the first couple of songs. Bit of a restrictive one to shoot as we were at front of house, but some decent shots all the same. These photos were used as part of a review running across jpimedia websites. For more details,...

Liam Gallagher, Rat Boy, Trampoline, Arena Birmingham
12 December 2017

Some photos of Liam Gallagher headlining Arena Birmingham as part of the Oasis frontman's headline tour supporting his debut LP As You Were. Joining Liam were Rat Boy and Trampoline. A fantastic show with a proper feeling of excitement ahead of the gig. Second time shooting Trampoline after frontman Jack Jones opened for The Libertines a while back. For more information, visit...

Royal Blood, At The Drive In, Black Honey, Barclaycard Arena, Birmingham
19 November 2017

Having seen and photographed Royal Blood play to a couple of hundred of people at Esquires a few years ago, you can't help but admire what they've achieved. Their headline gig at the Barclaycard Arena was pretty special, sounded great and included a great live show. Along for the ride was post-hardcore rock icons At The Drive In and Black Honey. the latter who played Esquires last...

Paul Draper, O2 Institute, Birmingham
24 September 2017

Paul Draper brought his UK tour to a close at the Institute in Birmingham on Saturday night. I was joined by Peter Ormerod who reviewed the show for Johnson Press titles across the region. His review is also below. ----- How to age if you're a pop star? You can resist it and resist it, embark on grim fitness regimes, pump yourself with Botox, pretend the years pass only for other people. Or you can embrace what it means to get older, imbue your work with the sound of experience, maybe relax a little, try less hard with...

Kidderminster vs Birmingham
28 July 2014

Believe it or not, I actually do more than take photos of musicians. This is something from Birmingham's pre-season game at Kidderminster on Saturday- taken for www.bluetintedspecs.co.uk When I get the gallery pages of this website working correctly, there will be some more football (and cycling)...

IVW - The Clause - The Black Prince, Northampton
29 January 2025

Apparently the busiest gig of Independent Venue Week for The Black Prince, I raced over to The Black Prince to catch Birmingham indie rockers The Clause having first popped into The Lab for the Miki Beryini Trio. This gig marked the third day of Independent Venue Week, the fourth at The Black Prince and my second of the night! No photos of support as I'd missed them by the time I arrived. For more information, visit https://thebugclub.bandcamp.com More photos from gigs at The Black Prince are available on this...

The Arctic Monkeys - CBS Arena, Coventry
31 May 2023

The Arctic Monkeys played a huge outdoor gig at the CBS Arena in Coventry following the release of their latest album The Car. They were joined by The Hives and The Mysterines. Very tight photo release form for this show, so the photo below is just and embedded link to the review running over on Birmingham World (where you'll find some more photos from the show). Ents colleague Peter Ormerod wrote a great review of the gig, which you can read via the link. More photos of gigs in Coventry are available on this...

2 January 2020

slowthai capped off an amazing year at the Roadmender last week with an early New Year's Eve Party. There's a review and a couple of photos running over at www.northamptonchron.co.uk if you want to read more about my thoughts on the show. Ty wasn't on until midnight and was joined by a host of special guests including ASH, Max Frith, Mike Skinner, Kelvin Krash & Kasien and P-rallel. Spent a lot of time photographing the Northampton native this year, previously covering gigs at the O2 in Birmingham, Craufurd...

The Jesus & Mary Chain, Roadmender, Northampton

Having photographed The Jesus & Mary Chain in Birmingham a few days previously, the band headlined The Roadmender in Northampton on Wednesday night. Playing, unbelievably enough, with even more smoke on stage. Support was by Brix and The...
